When you own an impressive 4-bay garage like this one, only a thoroughly planned and tailored storage solution will do. Having been disappointed with previous ‘off the shelf’ solutions, this owner turned to Dura – to deliver a room of outstanding quality for his premium vehicle collection, while meeting his creative ambition for something unique.
The Background
As a professional who was knowledgeable of the steel manufacturing industry, Mr Lewis sought a system for his garage that would guarantee high-quality, while offering the flexibility to make his own mark on the solution. Having tried ‘off-the-shelf’ furniture in the past, he recognised that a more personal design service was needed. With a comprehensive design + manufacture + installation service, the Dura team provided the one-stop-solution he needed to bring together quality cabinetry, flooring, wall-storage, ceiling and lighting for this ambitious project.

The Design
Throughout the consultation and surveys, Dura’s team took the time to learn how Mr Lewis planned to use his garage, both immediately and into the future. With an impressive collection of cars, it was important to him that the room had a high-quality finish, was secure, and provided functional space that was comfortable and easy to use.
The room contained panoramic windows and offered a generous depth of 9 metres, so it was logical to opt for a continuous low-level solution that spanned the full width of the room.
By selecting a mix of mobile and static tool storage drawers it provided a considerable amount of flexible storage space within a stylish, clutter-free environment – often seen within professional motorsport garages. Dura’s custom paint option allowed Mr Lewis to opt for cabinets and handles in a jet black semi gloss finish – giving his garage a unique look that other manufacturers couldn’t have provided.
Any facilities that Mr Lewis needed were seamlessly integrated. These included an air hose with compressor, a retractable electrical reel, a mounted vice and multiple power sockets across the full width. The smooth, continuous worksurface merged into a wash-up area at one end, with a stainless-steel sink plus towel and glove dispensers fitted below. Two full height cabinets ‘book-ended’ the continuous run, to provide additional storage for bulky items, as well as to conceal electrical power units
The walls were fully cladded with the Dura StorePanel™ system. As well as providing a clean, dust-free surface, this also enabled basket and hook accessories to be placed anywhere in the room – providing additional storage options in the future. This is particularly useful when organising items unsuitable for cabinets, such as bicycles and large leisure equipment.
Space was left in the central pillar to position a large smart TV which, when combined with the drinks fridge, provided ‘home comforts’ on tap when spending longer periods in the garage.
No luxury room would be complete without a high-quality flooring and ceiling. Beautiful Silver matt porcelain floor tiles were laid for the entire floor and the ceiling was painted black and fitted with stylish Zumtobel LED designer lights. This striking combination gives the space an impressive ‘showroom’ finish, worthy of the vehicles that will be housed there.

The Results
Dura are proud to have delivered many large garage make-overs over our 25 years, and we believe this project ranks as one of the best. We enjoyed working hand-in-hand with Mr Lewis to deliver the space he had envisaged, and the result is a room that not only provides the flexibility he needed but the visual impact he desired. A fantastic space that will be admired by all!
